KPM Berlin Hand Painted Oberon King of the Fairies Cobalt Gold Covered Cup C1800
Rare porcelain covered cup and saucer. Decorated in cobalt blue with gold scrollwork and leaf band. The cup is decorated with a hand painted scene depicting Oberon the king of the fairies reclining in a suit of armor surrounded by other figures. The scene is framed in a band of gold gilding with gold ovals. The saucer has the name Oberon in gold over cream framed by gold oval bands with gold ribbon and floral swags. Marked on the bottom with the blue underglaze scepter mark used by KPM Berlin. Circa 1800.
Has some wear to the gilding. The cup has a hairline crack extending off the lip on the inside. The saucer has a small chip to the edge with an associated tight curved crack. No additional chips or cracks.
The cup measures approximately 3 1/4 inches wide x 2 3/8 inches tall without the lid.
The cup measures approximately 3 5/8 inches tall including the lid to the top of the lid finial.
The saucer measures approximately 5 1/8 inches wide.
This is an antique and may have small in manufacture defects that do not effect the display of the piece.
