    Description

KPM Berlin Wars of Liberation Commemorative Empire Form Cup & Saucer C.1813-1814
Nice empire form porcelain cup and saucer made to commemorate the German Wars of Liberation, fought between Germany and Napoleon's army. The cup is decorated with a gold sun with a face above Gesegnet sei Deutschlands Befreiung 1813 - 1814. Google translates this as "May Germany's liberation be blessed". Has a band of acorns and leaves around the top of the cup and edge of the saucer. The cup is decorated in gold on the inside with white in the center of the cup. The saucer has gold leaves above Dank und Heil den edlen Befreiern! Google translates this as "Thanks and good luck to the noble liberators!"  The cup and saucer were likely produced by the KPM Berlin factory in 1814 after the Treaty of Paris was signed.
Has some minor wear to the gilding and a small in manufacture firing flaw to the rim of the cup, but otherwise good condition.
The cup measures approximately 3 7/8 inches wide including the handle x 3 5/8 inches tall.
The saucer measures approximately 5 1/4 inches wide.
This is an antique and may have small in manufacture defects that do not effect the display of the piece.
